Introduction To Ableton Live

Introduction To Ableton Live

Course Start Dates:

Tuesday, July 15th 2008

Course Duration:

4 x 2 hour lessons

Start Time:

Promptly at 7.30pm

Your Instructor:

Matt Rowan

Matt has been Djing for nearly 10 years and is among the Sweetchilli roster of DJs and recently toured South America with Canberra producer Jaytech. Matt bought Ableton from us in January 2005 and within months had a track signed to major UK label Hope Recordings which Nick Warren called the track of 2005 (Tomorrow/Blaze). That track would go on to be selected by Dave Seaman for inclusion on his Renaissance compilation. He has also had productions/remixes on Red Seven, Fiberline and Reversible and has heaps more in the pipeline. His knowledge of Ableton Live is extensive and his alternative work as a teacher will certainly help his ability to manage the course.

Course Outcomes:

As a result of completing this course, the participant will be able to manipulate Ableton Live to create and produce a track. They will achieve this by:

  • Setting Up Ableton Live so its easy to navigate and gain access to samples, instruments and devices
  • Learning about audio samples and how to change them to suit your needs
  • Creating MIDI lines which utilize both Ableton’s and third party synthesizers and sound generators
  • Learning about and applying basic composition and mastering techniques so that your tracks have that professional edge

This course is suited to all new Ableton Live users (with specific attention given to Live as a production tool), or for those wanting a refresher in Ableton basics and how to apply them to their compositions.

Strictly a maximum of 6 people per class - this is to ensure that everyone is able to get their questions answered as required.
