What is this podcasting thing anyway?
Essentially, it's a way for individuals and businesses to distribute
audio and/or video files over the Internet. It can be anything at
all, from an individuals personal online diary, to a news site distributing
the latest headlines. You subscribe to as many 'podcasts' as you
like, and then new content is automatically delivered to you. You
can then listen/watch this content on your computer, or you can
transfer it to a portable device such as an iPod or any other type
of mp3 player so you can listen/watch it all while you're on the
go, at your convenience!
So, why are you podcasting?
In our particular case, we thought it would be a cool way for you
to listen to our samples whenever you've got some spare time, without
having to sit in front of your computer. For instance, you can setup
your podcast software (see below) to automatically download our
charts or new releases overnight. Then in the morning, while you're
on the bus or train travelling to work, you can listen to all our
samples on your portable player and see if there are any tracks
you're interested in. We've included all the information you'll
need to order a track in the podcast text, including the catalogue
number, artist, title and label.
Pretty cool, hey!
Ok, so how do I subscribe to a podcast?
You'll need to use a podcast receiving program. If you don't have
one, there are a few free ones available from various sites on the
Internet that you can download and install. A couple of good ones
are iTunes
or Juice,
both of which are free.
We have our own branded version of Juice which comes preloaded
with all of our podcasts. You can download this for FREE!
To subscribe to a podcast, you need to enter the URL (web address)
of the podcast into the software. To find out what the URL is for
our podcasts, click on the graphic that looks like this:

This will open up a page that looks pretty complicated. Don't worry
about the page content - all you need is the URL, so highlight the
web address in your web browser and make sure you copy all of the
text in it:

All you need to do now is paste this URL into your podcast receiving
software. There'll usually be a button or menu item called 'Subscribe'
or something similar. The software will now add this podcast to
your list. You'll also be able to setup how often you want it to
check for new updates.
Apple iTunes users
If you own an iPod and you use iTunes, then you can use iTunes
to subscribe and listen to your podcasts. We've made it a bit simpler
for iTunes users. All you have to do is click on the following graphic
instead of the one mentioned above:

Wait for a few seconds and iTunes will automatically start up and
subscribe to the podcast you've selected.
